The Centre's Aim
The broad aim of our centre is to provide quality care and an educational
programme with a warm, secure environment. We also aim to provide a service
which fulfils all the child's basic needs.
Physical
Development of fine and gross motor skills, exercise good nutrition, sleep
and rest periods.
Emotional
Love, security and socialisation.
Psychological
Mental stimulation and education through a variety of activities/stimulation
of the senses.
A safe, happy, loving environment promotes a sense of belonging and security
allowing the children to develop at their own page as individuals.
The Centre also aims to service the parents and community in a way that
reflects their needs, for example, an anti-bias curriculum, multicultural
programmes, integration of special needs children.
The Centre looks to encourage in the children:
- confidence and curiosity
- happiness and honesty within themselves
- interest in the world around them
- love and security
- development of mind and body
- respect for themselves, others and environment
- independence and identity
- knowledge that they are unique individuals and that their special
abilities, interests and background are important contributions to the
community.
Parent Involvement
Parents are welcome to visit the Centre at any time. We welcome participation
and any ideas you may have - joining the Parents' Club is an ideal way to
participate!
The Parents' Club is a social one which helps raise money to buy any major
equipment or update books/puzzles for your child's enjoyment and education.
Programme Policy
Centre staff will observe each child's behaviour and skills as a basis for
individual programmes.
Observation of all children will be recorded and used as a development record/checklist.
These records, showing skills and stages reached by a child will be available
for parents to look at but are confidential and remain the property of the
Centre.
The programme refers to all of our activities during the day and provides
chidren with balanced opportunities for quiet times, adequate rest periods,
small and large group activities and provide for non-participating children.
Childrens' creativity and self-expression are encouraged through a wide
variety of indoor and outdoor activities, music and movement groups, language
and story groups and individual groups, dramatic play, drama, arts and crafts,
poetry, finger plays and songs.
Fine and Gross Motor Skills are strengthened through a wide variety of both
indoor and outdoor activities including manipulative play block play, carpentry,
water and sand play, balancing beams, running, skipping, hopping, walking,
catching and throwing skills with either bean bags or balls, painting with
both water paint, crayons, playdough, cutting and pasting, threading, lacing,
home corner.
